Longing to Fly

I am a small bird
............................With big dreams to fly
But the winds so strong
............................So harsh is my test
Can not flap my wings
............................Can not even try
I feel the need to
............................be free of this nest
These wings weak and small
............................The fear I will fall
I stare up into
............................The vast clear blue sky
I am trapped, even
............................if freedom can call
Heaven sings but all
............................I can do is cy
Jump with excitement
............................fall into despair
Flap my wings and dream
............................of flying up high
All my peers can soar
............................and explore the air
I watch with envy
............................and longing to fly
